Tsinghua University's 2021 fall semester Global Open Courses-"Winter Olympics" and Winter Sports, the 4th lecture will start this Thursday! Hu Xiaoqian, Associate Professor of the Department of Sports of Tsinghua University, will talk about "Olympic legacy in elite sport development: from the 2008 Summer Olympics to the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing". The "Winter Olympics" and Winter Sports course is one of the seven series of global open courses of Tsinghua University 2021 fall semester. Professor Xueli Wang, director of the Sports Industry Development Research Center of Tsinghua University, has taken the lead in the course design. We look forward to your application.

This course will present the origin and development of Winter Olympics, the history and culture of China's winter sports, and the development of China's winter sports industry driven by the holding of Winter Olympics in an all-round, multi-perspective and three-dimensional manner through theories, case studies and Q&A sessions. The course will also specifically look into the preparations for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and offer detailed introduction and analysis of the designs of venues and post-Olympic utilization, aesthetic visual elements in the games, innovative technology applications in winter sports and so on. The culture will be lectured by experts on Winter Olympic, Tsinghua University professors and outstanding alumni involved in the preparation of the Beijing Winter Olympics. By studying this course, students will learn about the Olympics and its culture, understand the history and development of China's winter sports and relevant industries, have a glance at the Beijing Winter Olympics in advance, and find out the designs of venues and innovative applications of technology.
