Asian Future Leaders Scholarship Program
Asian Future Leaders Scholarship Program (AFLSP)，offered by Bai Xian Asia Institute (BXAI), aims to promote cross-cultural understanding between the people of Asia and East Asian academic institutions. For academic year of 2024 to 2025, AFLSP provides scholarship opportunities for prospective full-time international students from Asia to pursue master’s degree in Tsinghua University.
I Eligibility
The applicant should meet the following eligibility requirements:
1. Must be non-Chinese citizens from Asia and meet the requirements of admission for international master’s students (detailed information refer to the Admission to Graduate Programs of Tsinghua University 2024-For International Students）;
2. Exemplify academic excellence, leadership potential, integrity and character, a keen interest in international and intercultural understanding, compassion and commitment to service, desire to positively invest in Asia and appreciation of BXAI’s mission and vision;
3. Good command of English and presentation skills;
4. Are not offered other kinds of scholarships for study at Tsinghua University.
ⅡScholarship Standard and Duration
The AFLSP offers successful candidates scholarships for one or two years including:

—— Living allowance (including accommodation, books or other materials, etc).
III How to apply
Application Procedure
Step 1: Apply for 2024 full-time international master’s programs of Tsinghua University and submit the online application at https://yzbm.tsinghua.edu.cn/intlLogin. (September, 2023 to February, 2024).
Step 2: Submit scholarship application materials through email to the target dept./school (contacts of schools/depts) by 1st March, 2024.
Deadline to submit scholarship materials (Beijing Time): March 1st, 2024
Application materials
1. AFLSP Scholarship Application Form-2024 Cohort (see the attachment, including three-minute video link, written in English and submitted in PDF format)
2. Certificate of English Proficiency (TOEFL, IELTS etc.)
3. Academic transcripts in English (stamped by the university)
4. A recommendation letter (written in English and issued by the relevant institution with official letterhead)
5. Other supporting materials (certificates of awards or social activities etc.)
Application Tips
1. Applicants shall guarantee all the information and application documents submitted in this application are authentic and accurate. Any time fraud or deliberate exaggeration is found, one will be disqualified from application or awards.
2. Applications with incomplete documents or not up to the requirements will not be processed.
3. All applications must be submitted online. There is no other way of application.
4. The applicant shall submit the scholarship application materials within the prescribed time. Failing to submit the application materials within the prescribed date shall be regarded as a renouncement of the application.
IV Selection Process
1. Applicants submit the online application for full-time master’s program at https://yzbm.tsinghua.edu.cn/intlLogin and submit the scholarship application materials to the target dept./school by 1st March, 2024.
2. The dept./school review the application materials, select scholarship candidates among pre-admitted students and submit the recommendation list to the University by 31st March, 2024.
3. Review by the AFLSP Faculty Committee of the University and submit Tsinghua nominations to BXAI for consideration by the end of April, 2024.
4. Selection by BXAI and BXAI Inform Tsinghua of the selection results by the end of May, 2024.
5. The University inform successful nominees of the BXAI selection outcome in June, 2024.
V Other requirements
The Scholarship recipient must also satisfy the following conditions during the entire period of time he remains a recipient of the Scholarship:
1. participate in the BXAI Summer Program (The BXAI Summer program with a duration of up to three weeks will be held in August, 2025);
2. participate in all mandatory enrichment programs for the Scholarship Program as required by the University and BXAI;
3. If the Scholarship recipient is a recipient of any other scholarship(s), tuition waivers, and/or funding support offered by a third party, the Scholarship recipient has the duty to disclose this information to BXAI.
4. notify BXAI if the Scholarship recipient decides to pursue exchange or overseas short-term studies during the scholarship period. BXAI reserves the right to withhold scholarship disbursement during the period of exchange or overseas study if the Scholarship recipient attends a program outside of Asia and pursues non Asia-related studies;
5. For a two-year Scholarship Student, the Scholarship recipient should meet the satisfactory academic requirement during the first scholarship year as a condition for receiving the second year of scholarship disbursement. BXAI reserves the right to withhold scholarship disbursement for the second year of scholarship if the Scholarship recipient is unable to meet the satisfactory academic requirement during the first scholarship year.
6. Upon acceptance of the Scholarship offer, the Scholarship recipient must sign a commitment letter in the form stipulated by BXAI and hold himself out as a “Bai Xian Scholar” and a “BX Scholar” for the one or two academic years during which the Scholarship recipient is sponsored by AFLSP at Tsinghua University.
