Overview

Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School (SIGS) is a public graduate education institution jointly established by Tsinghua University and the Shenzhen Municipal Government against the backdrop of national efforts to deepen higher education reform and promote the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Tsinghua SIGS has set up academic disciplines that promote interdisciplinary research and learning, including Materials Science, Data Science & Information Technology, Biopharmaceutical & Health Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Future Human Habitats, Environment & Ecology and Innovation Management. These efforts position our school as an incubator for future educational reforms. Oriented to scientific and technological frontiers, our students are ready to become future innovation leaders who will initiate pilot schemes and tackle real-world challenges.

Program Catalog

SIGS offers 22 Doctoral Programs and 40 Master's Programs to international students.

The study period for Master's degree programs is generally 2 years, and that for Doctoral degree programs is 3-4 years. For students with a Bachelor's degree who move on directly to pursue a Doctoral degree program, the study period is normally 4-5 years.

Financial Aid

The scholarships will be granted on both merit and need basis.

1. Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS) — National-Level

The Full CGS usually covers tuition, stipend, accommodation subsidy, and medical insurance. Annual Review is strictly required for all CGS holders.

2. Tuition Scholarship — University-Level

Covers full or partial tuition fee with a duration of one academic year. Applicants may apply for Tuition Scholarships annually (competitive).

3. SIGS International Student Scholarship — School-Level

Full-time international new students admitted to our school will be ranked and selected based on their previous academic achievements, research outcomes, and overall performance. Tuition fee waivers will be granted according to the annual scholarship evaluation results.

4. Scholarships offered by specific institutions or academic programs — Institute-Level

Living allowance

√ 3,810 RMB/month for doctoral students

√ 600 RMB/month for master’s students

Accommodation

SIGS provides accommodation for all full-time graduate students.

School accommodation is automatically reserved for admitted students and students do not need to apply on their own. Housing rate for 2027 will be noticed upon registration.

Students who wish to live off-campus are required to provide the International Students & Scholars Center (issc@sz.tsinghua.edu.cn) with their address, and are responsible for completing a Registration Form of Temporary Residence for Visitors within 24 hours of moving in.
